Browsers:
Software programs that translate HTML code to allow
users to view sites on the World Wide Web.
Brush Tool:
A Photoshop 6 tool used to add color or effects
to images.
Brushes Palette:
A Photoshop window that displays the different
sizes and styles available for the paintbrush tool.

Cell:
The intersection of a row and a column in a table
or spreadsheet into which data can be input.
Clone Tool:
A Photoshop tool, located on the Tools palette,
which can copy part of an image and reproduce it in the same photo.
CMYK:
A color scheme commonly used for full-color printed
images, reflecting cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks that combine to
form the images on a four-color press.
Codec:
An electronic method that converts analog signals,
such as video and voice signals, into digital form while also compressing
file sizes. It is an acronym for coder-decoder.
Color Separations:
The black and white printed equivalent of each
color variant within the CMYK color scheme, used to create templates printing
each color separately on a four-color press.
Cropping:
The process of cutting elements out of a photo.
Cut:
In video editing, a quick transition from one clip
to the next characterized by no special effect.

Database-driven sites:
Database-driven sites require headings that can
be read by a program as categories of information, which are then used
for sorting the information in those categories. An example is a site
with a catalog; orders and inventory information are kept in a database.
Digital Camera:
A photographic device used to record images without
the use of film.
Digital Noise:
Enlarged pixels or extra bits of digital data scattered
throughout a photo. Often a result of enlarging a photo with relatively
few pixels to begin with.
Downloading:
The process of retrieving a computer file from
a remote location and placing it on a local computer, usually via the
Internet.

Eyedropper Tool:
A Photoshop tool that allows user to pick a color
from within an image, in addition to colors available in the Photoshop
color palettes.

Filters:
Tools that can change the look of an image
by screening out or applying different effects.
FireWire:
A hardware link between an Apple computer and an
input device such as an external hard drive or video camera.
Flatbed Scanners:
Devices used for importing two-dimensional art
and other work, such as printed photos, into a digital image program.
Forms:
A web page element that uses database fields and tools in its design to
solicit information from visitors to a web site.
Frames:
A layout structure for the web in which two or
more individual web pages are displayed at once on the same monitor screen.
